Book Review: Crashing Tide
BOOK REVIEW: CRASHING TIDE BY HOLLY ASH
Zoe Antos is injured and on the run. Diving right into where the events of Cleansing Rain left off, Crashing Tide finds Zoe and crew trying to survive as a mysterious illness sweeps across the globe. With the eco-terrorist group hot on their heels and stopping at nothing until Zoe is dead, the crew must turn the tide in their favor before it pulls them under.
Written by my amazing friend Holly Ash, I’d been looking forward to reading this since I finished the last sentence of my ARC of Cleansing Rain. And it did not disappoint!
What I liked:
– The twists. I knew they were coming, but they took me by surprise as to how they unfolded.
– The setting. I could easily visualize everywhere Zoe and crew went. And I always enjoyed any kind of Michigan setting, living in Michigan myself.
– The relationship in between the characters. The relationships—and lack thereof—were stronger. Friends becoming family, family becoming enemies… Holly expertly made it all believable.
– The closure. There were certain characters that lacked closure in Cleansing Rain, and I was happy that Holly addressed those in this book.
– Blake. I became obsessed with Blake in Cleansing Rain, and that obsession continued all throughout this book. I’ll never stop loving him. Also, Shane is such a sweetheart, and I really like him too. But I absolutely love Blake.
What I didn’t like:
– Certain slow-paced everyday life scenes. This is a personal preference, but while I know the point was to show how Zoe and crew adjusted to their new lives, and while Holly made the scenes flow great, at times, I wished for a little more action.
– *redacted*. HOLLY KNOWS WHAT HOLLY DID!!! And though I’ll never forgive her for it, I’m moreso mad at *redacted*.
Overall:
– Great conclusion to a pre-apocalyptic book! This is one duology you don’t want to miss!
Let me know if you plan to read Crashing Tide or not! It comes out on September 27th, 2022.
