BOOK REVIEW: KINGDOM OF SIRENS AND MONSTERS BY TARA QUINN

Coral’s father is about to marry Melody; a wretched, power hungry, and controlling woman. It seems like nobody can see Melody’s true nature—to take over the island resort and family wealth—but Coral. She then meets Lysander; a mysterious, handsome stranger who knows things about Melody and Coral’s mother, who died when Coral was younger. When Melody reveals her true nature, Coral escapes to a world beneath the sea—where she learns the mythical creatures she grew up reading about are more than real.

What I liked:
– The villain. I love villains, and I especially love villains that are so well done, you love to hate them. I had scathing hated for Melody and loved every second of it.
– The different POV voices. The POVs are split in between Coral and Lysander, and there is no questioning whose point of view you’re in. Each character has a unique voice that stands out.
– The mythical creatures. You often see art, stories, video games, and movies/TV shows with mermaids and sirens, but rarely are there undines! I got super excited when they were mentioned, and couldn’t wait to see what direction Quinn took them in.
– Leif. Just… no explanation. He was my favorite. <3

What I didn’t like:
– Lysander. I found him creepy from the get-go, and though I understood the reasoning behind his actions and attitude, I still cringed at how quickly Coral warmed up to him.

Overall:
– I enjoyed it, and I can’t wait for more!

Let me know if you plan to read Kingdom of Sirens and Monsters or not! It comes out on January 5th, 2022.
