Editing Update 1.1: Rise of the Sky Pirate

Wow, it’s been a while since I last did an editing update for Rise of the Sky Pirate!

Let me tell you that it was hard this time around. If you’ve been following me over on Facebook or Instagram, I’ve talked about having to pause my edits/rewrites on two separate occasions due to grieving, and how I just couldn’t focus due to pandemic burnout.

In fact, my edits/rewrites were due to my editor in May, but I had to push them back because I just couldn’t finish on time. And even when I pushed the date back to July, I still wasn’t done by the time my editor requested my chapters on the 5th.

Thankfully, she was pretty understanding, and I ended up feeding her a chapter at a time until July 18th. Yikes.

But not only was my editor awesome about that, she actually ended up finishing my chapters a week early, meaning that all editing changes were finished before August! Woo hoo!

So what’s next?

Well, right now I need a sensitivity reader for Ajani’s Caribbean dialect. Then everything will need to be proofread before the final readthrough.

It’s almost done. Rise of the Sky Pirate is almost ready to be published. And I can’t wait.
