Inside the Final Edits: The Countdown to The Gatekeeper’s Portal
It’s crunch week, and the final edits for The Gatekeeper’s Portal are officially underway! Between bouts of stress-fueled insomnia and marathon editing sessions at Panera (complete with my favorite cozy fireplace spot), I’m in full-on deadline mode as I prepare to send the manuscript to my editor on November 1st.

One of my favorite behind-the-scenes moments this week was spending an entire day editing at Panera Bread. No distractions, cozy vibes, delicious food, and my favorite seat by the fireplace. It was exactly what I needed to focus and breathe for a bit.
Of course, not everything has gone smoothly. I spent hours crafting an emotional new scene between Ferenc and Amy in chapter 29… only to realize I’d already written almost the exact same scene back in chapter 20. Cue dramatic sigh and mass deletion.
I’m nearly there, though. The final edits for The Gatekeeper’s Portal are wrapping up, and it’ll soon be out of my hands and into my editor’s.
Back to the editing cave I go, armed with tea, snacks, and questionable sanity. Full update next week, but you can add The Gatekeeper’s Portal to Goodreads to join the adventure early.
