The Gatekeeper’s Portal Characters – Part 3: Deon and Shikki

If you’ve been following along in Parts 1 and 2 of this blog series, you’ve already met some of The Gatekeeper’s Portal characters, like Ferenc, Olivia, Dormouse, and the crew’s newest allies (and headaches). But the story wouldn’t be complete without the next two players, who are enigmatic, compelling, and not quite what they seem.

Are they here to help? Hurt? Hold everything in their hands while pretending they’re just passing through? Well… that’s for you to decide.

Let’s meet Deon and Shikki.

Deon Wystan

Deon - The Gatekeeper's Portal

Occupation: General
Age: 29
Description:
– Eyes: One hazel, one amber
– Hair: Long, wavy blond
– Body: Tall, muscular, broad-shouldered
Location: Unknown
Interests: Unknown
Enneagram: 6w5
MBTI: INFJ
Personality: There’s not much anyone knows about Deon. Focused like a soldier on a mission, Deon follows orders with precision. But there’s something… off. A flicker of doubt. A tug of memory he can’t quite place. Something doesn’t sit quite right in his gut… like something, or someone, is keeping him locked in place.
Role in The Gatekeeper’s Guardian: Deon makes a dramatic entrance when he shows up at Ferenc’s house with a clear objective: capture Dormouse. But in the chaos, he grabs the wrong woman—Olivia—and after a brief clash, he vanishes with Amy, Ferenc’s ex, instead. And that’s only the beginning.

Shikki

Shikki - The Gatekeeper's Portal

Occupation: Apprentice (formerly priest)
Age: Unknown
Description:
– Eyes: Grayish-blue
– Hair: Black, short
– Body: Tall, lean
Location: Unknown
Interests: Unknown
Enneagram: 4w3
MBTI: ENFJ
Personality: Shikki carries himself with quiet elegance. His presence has weight, even in silence. Whether he’s observing or guiding, there’s a sense that he’s always three steps ahead—but never in a hurry to let you know it.
Role in The Gatekeeper’s Guardian: Shikki appears near the beginning of The Gatekeeper’s Guardian, quietly offering reassurance and care to Amy when she finds herself in unfamiliar surroundings. He speaks to her with warmth and consideration. Though he doesn’t cross paths with Ferenc or the others, his actions carry a quiet significance that’s subtle, deliberate, and not easily forgotten.

So… what do you think of these new The Gatekeeper’s Portal characters? Do you trust them? Are your warning bells ringing? Already sketching conspiracy boards with red thread and question marks?

Go on, drop your theories in the comments. I love watching readers try to guess who’s going to betray whom. (Just know I won’t confirm nor deny… yet.)
