Editing Update 4.0: Project Elementals 2

This book has been kicking my butt.

I seem to say that about all my books when doing an editing update, but it’s particularly true of Project Elementals 2.

Each book I’ve published has taken longer than anticipated during the feedback implementation phases and self-edits/revisions. So I always increase the next book’s phases by an additional month, yet I still end up taking longer than anticipated.

For Project Elementals 2, I was originally super stuck with my pacing, despite all the helpful comments from my alpha readers. I just couldn’t figure out how to fix it, and it took me around a month to finally come up with something (proof I’m a Pantser and not a Planner lol). Then I had to implement it, and let me tell you that the bottleneck I created was not fun to slog through. To the point I would avoid working on my novel edits and would try to do anything but. I finally pushed through that mess, but edits are still slow due to shifting my schedule back around for the school year (I homeschool my son). And then… I had to get a temporary part-time job because of financial issues and the threat of my husband’s job going on strike.

But don’t fret; I still plan to get Project Elementals 2 out by spring. I try to work on edits early in the morning if I don’t have any proofreading for clients, and before bed if I get home from work early enough. And, of course, I can always work on the weekend—as long as I don’t have a book signing scheduled!

Have you ever had a string of events prevent you from accomplishing something? Let me know!
