Happy 4th Anniversary!

Happy 4th Anniversary to swraine.com!

What started out as a monthly imitation of my favorite author’s blog beginnings (and to be held accountable), turned into a bi-monthly beast!

My authorship career has taken off in the right direction since deciding to take action, and I so much has happened! Just since last May, I’ve:

  • – done a live reading for a virtual book festival
  • – gotten my books into a physical bookstore
  • – celebrated my one year anniversary of quitting my factory job to become a full-time author
  • – been featured in a few author spotlights, interviews, shout-outs, podcasts, and newsletter swaps, as well as had my books featured on an indie author bingo board, and participated in a multi-author giveaway
  • – pitched reviewers
  • – started drafting book 2 of the Adventures of Captain Keenan series
  • – won an award in our regional NaNoWriMo excerpt contest (Best Build of Tension) for chapter 1 of Project Elementals
  • – sold copies of my books to France and Germany

Most importantly is that I’ve also released Rise of the Sky Pirate into the world on January 11th, 2022. It broke almost all pre-release/sales/rankings (#127 in Steampunk Fiction for paperback!) records set by The Techno Mage, and not only did it receive amazing reviews, but it made #6 in a bookstagrammer’s top 20 reads of 2021, and even beat Rook Di Goo by Jenni Sauer in another bookstagrammer’s favorite reads! Rook Di Goo was an indie author book I’d seen receiving praise EVERYWHERE on Instagram, so that definitely made me happy!

At the moment, I’m hard at work editing my third book, the first part of a contemporary fantasy trilogy, tentatively titled Project Elementals. If you’ve been here since the beginning, you’ll know that Project Elementals (tentatively titled as Elementals back then) was the project I’d started on before shelving it for The Techno Mage instead. Now that I have a bit of experience under my belt, I feel confident being able to untangle the complications I’d originally had with it.

So here’s to another exciting year! And, of course, thank you for your support! You are the reason I keep going!

Raine
