My 2022 Writing Plan And Goals
I know you’d expect this sort of post at the end of December or the beginning of January, but with gearing up for the release of Rise of the Sky Pirate, I just couldn’t fit it in. Better late than never though, right?
2021 was tough, for sure. My original writing plan for Rise of the Sky Pirate was to have it published by September, but between dealing with traumatic health issues and a death in the family, I couldn’t focus on my edits and had to push back my launch plan accordingly.
I made up my 2022 writing plan in December, with the goal of having Project: Elementals ready for my alpha readers by January 1st. I knew it was going to be tight, and sure enough, it was. Not only is it still not with my alpha readers yet, it’s also still not finished going through revisions and edits.
I was pretty busy (and stressed) with last-minute things as far as release day for RotSP, but also, my perfectionism was running rampant, to the point that I couldn’t revise/edit a chapter a day as planned. Thankfully, I have an amazing coach who is keeping me accountable in one of her publishing programs, and with a little tweaking, I’ve come up with something good-ish.
I’m not going to rush myself or burn myself out, though. I’m still a beginner at publishing, I still haven’t gotten into a good groove yet, and I know publishing two books in a year is BIG for me, if it doesn’t happen, then it doesn’t happen. I won’t stress myself out over it.
On top of my writing plan, I have some goals for the year:
- – Publish 200 books total of The Techno Mage
- – Publish 100 books total of Rise of the Sky Pirate
- – Get TTM and RotSP into 1 library
- – Get TTM and RotSP into 4 more bookstores
- – Publish hardcover of TTM
- – Publish audiobook of TTM (funds permitting)
- – Get Project: Elementals as close to publication as possible
Let me know what some of your goals are this year!
Stay safe!
