Editing Update 2.2
While Sky Pirates of Faugregir is currently with my Alpha Readers, I’m working on side-projects. Some of those side-projects include:
-Researching Beta Readers
-Researching Cover Artists
-Researching Editors
-Researching size for print book, paper color, and paper thickness
-Researching side-jobs
-And last but not least, Revise another Work in Progress.
I decided, now that I have a little experience under my belt, that I’d return to the novel that I had originally intended on releasing first: Elementals.
If you remember in past blog posts, I had been working on Elementals before I decided to shelf it last January in favor of something a little easier to revise. I’ve been re-reading it to get a feel for it, and ohh boy, is it ever a mess.
Elementals is an Urban Fantasy combination of two NaNo novels. I wrote the first part in 2011 as a solitary novel, but had a case of writer’s block and switched novels 25,000 words in. Then in 2013, I envisioned the characters of the 2011 novel in a more grandiose adventure, so I wrote- and finished- it. At some point, I decided that I needed to merge both stories together, which obviously meant that I needed to finish the one from 2011. I made that my NaNo project in 2017, which was really hard to do because I couldn’t just be my usual pantser; it had to make sense with what happened in part 2.
I tried figuring it out when I decided that I wanted it to be my first published novel, but ended up shelving it. During the past year, I have gone back and forth about how maybe I shouldn’t combine the novels, and just make it a duology instead. I was suddenly resolute on said duology, but, eight chapters in of re-reading it, and now I’m trying to convince myself that it really would be better off as one whole novel. Argh!
I think I need to establish a timeline before I do anything else. Whew!
What are you currently working on? Let me know!
