My 2020 Writing Plan
Sometime in June, I sat down with Science Fiction author and fellow NaNoWriMo participant Holly Ash and we went over a Writing Plan together.
In December of 2018, Holly had shared a pic of her 2019 Writing Plan, which instantly got me curious. Now, I’m not a Planner by any stretch of the imagination when it comes to writing. But revising, editing, and publishing? I was in desperate need of a sturdy plan and schedule. Holly helped me, and we even planned to get together weekly in order to hold ourselves accountable (and I can now add “amazing friend” to her titles!).
I quickly learned that, despite having this Writing Plan- which I was doing SO well with, in the beginning- I was eventually falling behind. I had planned for my revision process to take one month before I would send it off to my Alpha Readers… It took six months. But that’s okay; I had never revised properly, before, and had never done something like it with a schedule. This was definitely a Learn-As-I-Go experience, and I’ll be a little quicker with my next novel, and a little quicker with the one after that.
I also bought myself a planner notebook, and I intend to use it. It’s pretty empty at the moment, but I will either add more or refine, depending on my planner research.
Also, good news! I have fixed the commenting for my blog posts; It no longer flags you as spam! Comment away, friends!
Here’s to a new year!
