NaNoWriMo 2019
Today is the last day for the NaNoWriMo 2019 season.
My writing started out slow at the beginning of the month not only because of my ML duties, but also because my mum was visiting. I don’t get to see her that often, so I wanted to spend as much time as possible with her. This year, on top of running my usual Thursday Write-Ins, I added one on Tuesdays, too. My friend and fellow Indie Author Holly Ash ran the first Tuesday Write-In for me while my mum was visiting, and one of my fellow co-ML’s ran the first Thursday Write-In. I was definitely all about the Word Wars and Word Sprints in order to catch back up.
We had our Midway Madness event scheduled for November 16th, and that’s where I finally caught up to NaNo’s goal of 1,667 words a day. I typically write 2,000 words a day as I like nice, round numbers and am somewhat of a perfectionist, so I was still behind on my personal goal. But that’s alright. I wrote a little over 5,000 words that day.
My ace in the sleeve, however, was the Boot Camp event on the 24th.
Detroit’s Boot Camp event was just what I needed to get me to 50,000 words. With eventual numb fingertips, I didn’t write as many words as I did in last year’s Boot Camp, but 8,700 was enough to give me the win.
As per my usual, my novel is not yet complete. I summarized the rest into one big chapter so that when I eventually return to it, I’ll remember where I wanted to head with it. And so, I finish NaNoWriMo 2019 with 52,034 words. I’ve taken the rest of November off, but starting tomorrow, it’s back to revising my WIP. I have 8 scenes left before sending it off to my Alpha Readers!
What did you accomplish this November? Let me know!
